Short answer: No. In the Omaha area, your mailing city and zip code do not decide your school district. A home with an Omaha address can be in the Millard, Elkhorn, Gretna, Westside or Omaha district, so always check the specific address with the district.

Does my mailing address decide my school district?
No. In the Omaha area, mailing addresses and school district lines are drawn separately. In October 2026, Omaha-address homes for sale were spread across several districts, including about 170 in the Gretna district and about 120 in the Elkhorn district, based on MLS data.
Does a Gretna address mean Gretna schools?
Usually, but not always. In October 2026, every Gretna-address home for sale was in Gretna Public Schools, but MLS records show 17 homes with Gretna addresses in the Bellbrook neighborhood sold in the Millard district over the past year. Many homes with Omaha addresses are in the Gretna district too. Confirm with the district: Gretna boundary map, 402-332-3265.
Is Millard its own city?
No. Millard was incorporated in 1885 and annexed by the City of Omaha in 1971, according to Millard Public Schools' history. Millard Public Schools stayed its own district, so a home can have an Omaha address and be in the Millard district.
Can an Omaha address be in the Elkhorn or Gretna school district?
Yes. In October 2026, the MLS listed homes with Omaha mailing addresses in the Elkhorn, Gretna, Millard, Westside, Bennington and Omaha districts, among others. Zip 68136, for example, was mostly in the Gretna district with some homes in Millard.
How do I confirm which school a home is assigned to?
Use the district's own lookup tool, then call the district before you buy: OPS Find My School, Millard address lookup, Gretna boundary map, Elkhorn district map and boundaries, Find Your School, Bellevue School Search Tool, Bennington district boundaries, Westside district boundaries. MLS school fields are a helpful guide but can be out of date.
Why do listings in the same zip code go to different schools?
Zip codes are set by the Postal Service for mail delivery, while school districts follow their own legal boundaries. A single zip code can cross several districts, and districts can adjust attendance areas, so the street address is what matters.
